For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. Hebrews 10:36.
As a prophetic intercessor or prophet, one lives in the future promises of God (what He has said will come to pass). The reality I live in at the moment does not line up with the reality that God has spoken about though I constantly pray for it. Yet, when His word (or a dream) does come to pass, it’s like a puzzle piece being added to the heavenly puzzle of one’s life.
I can step back and look at the whole picture again, looking to the future anticipating more fulfillment. All who have received the Lord’s promises and believe them, live in the ‘coming’ of what the Lord has whispered to them. It is hard to live in the present when the voice of Eternity has shared His future plans.
I can acknowledge the current circumstance but am always watching and petitioning for what comes next; what God has proclaimed will happen. In His silence, I can start to behold His handiwork for the future fulfillment. But that takes belief and trust. I wondered, “Is there a difference between those two actions?”
"Trust is a firm belief in the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing; confidence or reliance. The condition and resulting obligation of having confidence placed in one. While, to believe is to accept as true or real; to expect or suppose; think." The American Heritage® Dictionary.
I found my answer from my good friend and Five-fold ministry office holder, Wanda Rust. I have dedicated many posts to her and for good reason, she is a wise seasoned woman of God. A highly favored one! The Work of an Evangelist ~ Wanda Rust.
From a recent teaching of Wanda’s: “We can pray and cry out to God and even beg him for our answers to our wants and needs. We say we believe His word but no answer seems to come. It is when we start to praise Him (for whatever we have asked) because we’re saying to God, ‘I trust Your word not just believe but trust’. Believe is in the mind; trust is in the heart. No worries, no frets and no anxiety; just joy in the Lord with praise knowing it is on the way. Just as Jesus said, ‘to say it is so and therefore, it will happen.’”
The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; therefore, my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him. Psalms 28:7.
Now, I can see how believing is different than trusting. And trusting (in the integrity, ability, and character of God) is the first obligation I have in His Covenant of Peace (Trust Without Borders). Similar to the common phrase: ‘Trust with your heart, not with your head.’ Believing is in the mind but, trust is in the heart!
I choose to believe AND trust. Trust, it is a heart word!
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. Jeremiah 17:7.
