This post is a sister article to An Interactive Exercise in Hearing currently under Hearing & Discerning God's Voice Series, The Library.
I want to recall the dream to show you how the Lord can use previous messages He has sent in the past to confirm a current event. Another way of hearing God speak confirmations.
An excerpt from that article: “Someone from my old church contacted me through my husband. They were reading my book and had questions for me. Because they were associated with the old church, I asked God for His view on the situation. During prayer…I heard “Stand Your Ground” and remembered where I had heard that before. It was from the Prophets Robe Dream (circa 2013)”. Here we go:
"I was standing on the sidewalk, facing east, outside of the head pastor’s office at my old church. It was bright daylight. The church was identical to how it looks in real life. I noticed only two cars in the parking lot. As I stood on the sidewalk, I felt the weight of the extremely heavy robe I was wearing. It was creamy white in color, long and held on me by woven colored ropes. I felt it was a burlap material, irritating.
I stood tall in this garment, but I thought, ‘Oh no, I have come out of my closet. I am now known. I have been revealed.’ I wanted to throw myself on the ground to hide, but my body was immovable. I could not move an inch. My arms were stuck down by my sides, my face was steadied east; I could not look any other direction.
As I stood looking east, around the back corner of the church approached the head pastor and his son, walking westward. They saw me as they approached their car, and the pastor dropped his keys. The son was startled and entered the passenger side of the car, head down. The head pastor kept looking at me, picked up the car keys he dropped, and got into the car. He looked at me again before he backed out of the parking spot, then drove away. All the while, my gaze was upon them. I could not look away (though I desperately wanted to). I heard the Lord say, “Stand your ground.”"
When I awoke to “Stand your ground” command, I knew it to mean hold on to what God has promised for this church. To not back down, to not apologize for being obedient to what the Lord has told me to do through that assignment, and to not let the enemy gain any ground back from what I have won for God.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness. (Ephesians 6:14).
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage to not be afraid nor be dismayed for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. (Joshua 1:9).
If I hadn’t written down my dream and what I heard God speak, then He wouldn’t have the material to be used as confirmation to me years down the road. If I had not recorded my 2013 dream, then God couldn’t use that past interaction to confirm my current situation. See how this works?
I believe this scenario reiterates the direction the Lord has laid out in my post Was That You, Lord? The Tools: “Next item in the toolbox is a pen/pencil or a computer (even your phone). A tool to record what you hear in your ears and in your dreams. And finally, a notebook or journal (computer/phone). If you didn’t know…God writes down everything we say. Shouldn’t we write down everything He says? Your journal is your book of remembrance…”
