This story highlighting the Gift of Wisdom (in action) I’ve included is from a brother and co-laborer in Christ, Ralph Haynes. It is from his new book, “The Book of Miracles” recently released and highlighted on this site’s Home Page (if you want to pick up a copy). It is filled with miracles as experienced by this SDFD Fire Captain and man of God. Here is his story:
You can ask my wife or anyone that is very close to me how I feel about dreaming, and they will tell you that I do not like dreaming.
While in the fire service. I never did sleep much in the stations that I served at; mostly because we were always busy, especially at night and during the early mornings. Now, after being retired foe over eleven years, I sleep a lot. However, I still dislike it when I dream.
One of the things that I began doing soon after retirement was working as a football official. It was something that I always wanted to do but never had time for. After every game, all uniforms and equipment items must be cleaned and prepared for the next football contest. This one particular time, I had cleaned all of my gear but could not find my uniform cap. I had a game coming up in a couple of days, and I really needed that cap.
After searching everywhere that I could think of, I was ready to give up and go purchase another one. That night, I fell asleep racking my brain as to where that cap could be. As I slept, I began to dream. In my dream, I saw myself get up out of bed, get dressed and go downstairs to my garage, get a tool that I use to pick up paper and trash, come back upstairs, go into our laundry room, get a step ladder, set it up in front of the washer, climb up, look behind the washer, locate my cap and use the tool to pick it up. Again, I saw all of this in my dream.
As soon as I woke up and became conscious and aware, I remembered my dream. After my wife woke up, I told her the dream in the same way that you just read it. Before getting out of bed, I told her that I believed the dream was from God to show me where my lost cap was. She agreed. I was about to go and look behind the washer for my cap, skipping all of the things that I saw myself doing in the dream. My wife, who loves to dream and has spiritual gifts relating to dreams, advised me to carry out the steps that I had seen myself do in the dream. You already hear it coming.
I got out of bed, went through all of the steps, if you will, and sure enough, there was my cap behind the washer. I used the tool to get it and completed the process of my dream. Once again, this is something that only God could have done. To God Be the Glory
