10/27/21 A Vision Confirmed and Obeyed by Cindy Reynolds

We go through our lives living from day to day, each one rather predictable and unremarkable. As Christians we generally try to live as the Lord has taught. We try to be caring and compassionate, honest and faithful members of our families, churches, and communities. We can become satisfied with ourselves, believing that we are doing enough. But are we?

Have you ever heard God? Have your ever felt compelled to do something outside of your comfort zone, something challenging or at least unusual? Something to make a difference for His kingdom? Sometimes it is only a persistent thought that you can’t put to rest. Sometimes it can be a dream or a picture in your mind, a “vision”, or even an audible voice However it is that He chooses to speak to you, I encourage you to listen. Nehemiah describes it simply as, “What God had put in my heart”.  (Nehemiah 2:12).

I am currently working on a special project for our church as a result of being called by God to do it. It will be a lovely small garden with an angel statue, a pretty bench, and a Mission Fig tree. I feel rather certain that it will be accomplished and as I work through the levels of authority in our ministry, our church and the supplier, I am comforted by the memory of the vision that was given. It does not leave my consciousness for long. I feel compelled to do this work for Him. It seems a small project but that isn’t important. What is important is my obedience.

How do I know the Lord gave me the vision and it wasn’t of my own making?   Because God confirmed powerfully to me the mission, when the symbols I saw in the vision were present as I visited the store to purchase the items for the garden (just as I saw them in my head).

My friend, have you ever been called by God? Do you hear Him? If not, why not? Have you asked? Will you ask? Will you go for Him?

Isaiah 6:8. Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. send me!”
