I have never dreamed of horses, and I certainly never thought of being a horse. Though my sisters and I loved horses when we were children. We played with plastic horses. I even turned my bike into a horse. A funny secret, one of my sisters really wanted to be a filly when she was young (no wonder she was in the dream with me)! So, this dream took me by surprise.
For all of us who love God’s creatures, take note of them when they appear in dreams. They do mean something. The issue is to find out what! Here is my dream.
I spotted my sisters loading something into the back of their car in a parking lot. I saw them through the crowd but I couldn’t get to them. The scene changed to a short white hallway.
I started down the hall to get outside where my sisters were, when a beautiful white horse walked in front of me. It crossed my path from my left to the right as it passed. No rider, no saddle, just a magnificent large white horse. I wondered at its beauty.
Once the horse past, I saw an open door at the end of the short hallway out to the sunny parking lot where my sisters were. However, a young filly was ahead of me and blocked the hallway. The filly was kind of a grayish green moss-color and bony. I could see her bones. She was also wobbly while trying to walk.
I couldn’t get around the young horse. I chose to pet its rear end, knowing that she could kick me if I got behind her. I then got diverted in a side room to let the filly pass. She was headed to the open door.
The final scene had me at my sister’s house, but they were not home. I found myself running down a hill and a couple of embankments, jumping down realizing that I could run again and jump! I was so exhilarated, I called them on a phone to tell them what was happening. I was so exasperated at the miracle I couldn’t get the words out to speak. I woke up gasping in joy.
A song played in my head upon waking: Great Is The Lord - YouTube. I weep every time I listen to it.
Now, that’s a doozy, isn’t it? Remember, the ‘strange’ things in a dream give its real meaning. So, let’s look at the strangest, the horses.
The scripture I received upon waking was: Psalm 36:6 Your righteousness is like the great mountains; Your judgments are a great deep; .O Lord, You preserve man and beast. Interesting, because there was a beast in my dream!
A horse can have positive or negative meanings. We have to look at the context. But generally speaking, a horse represents work or flesh (as in “the works of/or in the flesh”); the work of God’s Spirit through people; and spiritual warfare.
A horse also means great strength and power; powerful in spiritual warfare; a spirit of tenacity; not double minded; a powerful ministry capable of competing against the enemy; God’s judgment; strength for the battle; a means of fast travel in in the spirit and to battle.
And a white horse is purity; righteousness; Christ’s return. Then we have the grayish green filly. What in the world! Gray is vague; neither hot nor cold; double minded. Green indicates permission to go forward with a ministry or something new in your life. Also, restoration; healing; rest; peace; negatively it stands for envy or pride.
Okay, the colors help the meaning as will the type of horse. The white horse was an adult, aka a mare, I believe. The young horse I called a filly is a female horse that is too young to be called a mare.
The white horse passed before me as in crossing my path. I think of the superstition (which I am not) of ‘a black cat crossing your path’. So, what would it mean if a gorgeous white horse crossed your path? Hmmm. And the young filly went before me in the direction of the open door.
The filly is me because a horse represents work/flesh (or both). Heading down a hallway (of my affliction) wobbly (yes) and greenish (ready for something new and at times envious of those who can do life as ‘normal’). Gray being double minded about my healing…is it coming or not?
Upon prayer, I got an address of Song of Soloman 1:9: I have compared you, my love, to a filly among Pharaoh’s chariots. Believe it or not, my NKJV bible is the only version I could find that uses ‘filly’; all the others use mare or horse in the verse! God knew my bible would line up with what I called the young horse in my dream. So cool😊
Confirmation that I was on the right path to the correct interpretation. Now, as for the white horse which could have several meanings. Great strength; powerful in spiritual warfare; a spirit of tenacity; not double minded; a powerful ministry capable of competing against the enemy.
I know that is not indicative of me right now. But what if it is me in the future (being healed) or in the Lord’s eyes? In addition, a white horse is symbolic of Christ’s return as it walked in front of me (meaning a future occurrence). Either way, the white mare is a positive sign.
To ‘round up’ the message of this dream it is something to look forward to. Though I couldn’t reach my sisters, the hallway was short with an open door to sunshine at the end. I must have made it out because I ended up at sister’s house galloping around and healed!
I like baby sister’s reaction: “So, in a previous dream I had of you, you were also running down a hill. The young horse is what you are now and the white horse is what you will become on your journey forward. Healing, strength etc. is a horse as a symbol; pure, majestic and God is showing you what you will be!”
For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son… Romans 8:29a.
I think most of us have a very different image of ourselves than God does. For example, I see myself as the wobbly, gray-green filly hobbling down the hallway to get to the sunlight through the open door in my dream. But perhaps God sees me as the white mare, strong and prepared for battle. Certainly, it is a goal I would want to achieve. A vision of what I could become if I’m obedient to God! A white mare not a nightmare.
It can’t come soon enough for me, Lord. And may all of us be white horses in the stable of our God. NEIGH!!!
Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 1 John 3:2.
P.S. The evening I posted this article; I watched The Queen of Jhansi movie. Guess who showed up? Yes, our beautiful mare! The Lord is encouraging us:) Read more on signs to note in 2024: Follow the Signs.

Today, a friend and one of my original prayer partners (Susan) called me. It was good to catch up with her and I am still blessed knowing her because she was such an important part of my formative years in Jesus. I mention her in my book: “In 1998, I met Susan, who became my prayer partner. I learned so much from Susan during our time together; as a prophetic intercessor, she encouraged that gift in me too. We did a lot of prayer for revival of the country and our church. I learned about spiritual warfare...”
After our chat, I napped and woke to a text from her showing me her horses in their pasture. And yep, you guessed it ~ she has a white horse named DC! I love how the Lord continues to confirm the white horse in my recent dream. Thank you, Susan for sending the pictures of your marvelous beauties😊
