Ahhhh, the hues of Heaven, blue!  That is the color for the Word of Knowledge, the next Revelation Gift we will investigate.  Why blue?  That’s easy… blue is symbolic for revelation knowledge in dreams and an open heaven as in Daniel 1:17 As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

“The color blue carries some connection to the heavens, or to God Himself.  Since the sky was held to be the gateway to heaven, or known as the “first heaven,” it represents God’s truth and His grace.  Blue was one of the colors of thread used to weave the tent and the tabernacle, as well as the priestly garments.”

Picture the blue hues of Heaven moving from bright light joyful messages to deep dark foreboding solemn revelation, all on the spectrum of Heaven to bring us into a right understanding of God or a situation.  The Mystery of the Ages revealed to humankind, that is the Word of Knowledge.

What is the gift Word of Knowledge?  Those with the Gift of Knowledge understand the deep things of God and the mysteries of His Word.  The manifestation is a ‘knowing’ beyond our natural abilities.  It reveals a meaning that would otherwise be hidden to us (i.e., a dream’s hidden meaning or an understanding of a scripture beyond the surface).

For this reason, I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for you Gentiles— if indeed you have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which was given to me for you, how that by revelation He made known to me the mystery (as I have briefly written already, by which, when you read, you may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ).  (Ephesians 3:1-4).

I received a prophetic explanation of God’s glory that is coming which will have a Word of Knowledge (revelation) component: “The glory that is coming and will be revealed is a glory that has not been seen on this earth.  It is a revelatory glory.  A glory that will reveal the hearts and minds of all that it comes in contact with…to turn the hearts of the fathers back to the children and the wayward to the just.  For such a time as this it will be revealed.”

Why is this gift used by the Lord?  This gift is a cousin to the Word of Wisdom which has similar uses being to warn; to prepare; to advise; to counsel; to assure us of God’s care.  But its great difference is to reveal the mysteries of the Kingdom of God (including in scripture).  It is meant to build up and to prepare the Lord’s Church.

I believe as the days draw darker there will be deeper revelation of His Word.  Imagine the dark foreboding skies when a storm is coming, so too will be the deep hidden things of the Spirit revealed in our days.  These treasures of darkness will be taught to a new level.  I hear the Lord say: “Revelation will abound, multiply to multiply to bring in the great Day in the Lord.”

The deep things of God will be the new frontier and those with the gift will be the forerunners aka trailblazers!

I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the Lord, who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel.  (Isaiah 45:3).

How is this gift used by the Lord?  The Word of Knowledge can come through inward revelation (including the reading of scripture); the voice of God speaking to us; dreams or visions; and/or the interpretation of tongues to name a few avenues.

An example from the Book of Acts 8:26, 30-31: Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza (to meet an Ethiopian).” …So, Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”  And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.

An Example of Word of Knowledge in practice.  During my first week at my former employer, a serious situation happened; our company lost seven boxes of warrants.  The General Manager told me I had to go tell the customer we lost their boxes and I had to face the consequences that next Monday.  Monday morning came and I prayed all weekend because I was so scared to tell the customer.

At the light to turn into my company’s parking lot, I had a vision of a good Samaritan who found the lost boxes in a ravine and returned them to us.  During our morning meeting before I had to leave and face the customer, I said, “You never know if a good Samaritan might find the boxes in a ravine and return them to us.“  They all laughed.

I had the uncomfortable customer meeting, and they were kind to me, but upon my return to the office the GM was frantic to see me.  He told me while I was gone he got a call from the police that a good Samaritan had found the boxes in a ravine and turned them in to the police station!  The GM, a Mormon, was floored that God told me ahead of time.

Do you see how the gifts work hand in hand to bring about God’s glory?  The vision was a Word of Wisdom, and I spoke a Word of Knowledge to bring to pass the miracle.  If I had kept my mouth shut and just waited to see what happened then, God would not have received the glory.  In addition, this Mormon whom God loves and needed to know the love of God would not have been a witness to it.

Hallelujah for the operation of His gifts.

For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.  (Acts 4:20).
