As we wind down this series on angels, let’s look at the purposes they serve in God’s kingdom to aid us human beings.
Deliverance & Protection: Psalms 34:7 The angel of the LORD encamps round about them that fear him and delivers them.
Acts 12:7 And, behold, the angel of the Lord came upon him, and a light shined in the prison: and he smote Peter on the side, and raised him up, saying, Arise up quickly. And his chains fell off from his hands.
“This is your evidence that they are all around you, even though you cannot see them. I love this, because Peter wasn’t watching for his angel to set him free. He thought he was having a dream. Surprise, surprise. God loves doing the impossible for us. If God has something for you to do, there is nothing that can stop you, except yourself, in your unbelief.” Wanda Rust.
In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. Psalm 91:12.
My God sent His angel and shut the lions’ mouths, so that they have not hurt me, because I was found innocent before Him; and also, O king, I have done no wrong before you. Daniel 6:22.
Impartation & Instruction: For He will tell His angels to care for you and keep you in all your ways. Psalm 91:11.
A thought about angels; they are to do the Lord’s work in keeping us in our ways. In other words, to keep us keeping on. My point is that angels have a mission to give us impartation from God. They can give us information, comfort, and answers to prayer.
For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed, God has granted you all those who sail with you.’ Therefore, take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me. Acts 27:23-25.
“Paul knew his angel was with him and was able to speak with authority to the sailors. In our time of need our angel is with us even though, we may not believe it.” Paul was imparted with instruction via the angel which resulted in faith to impart to the other sailors that their journey would be successful.
“Angels have a wonderfully unique role in God’s communication, yet their work is interwoven with these other ways in which he speaks. How we got the book of Revelation is a good picture of this. We’re told that God revealed the book’s message to Jesus. Jesus then revealed it to a human messenger (the apostle John), but he did it through an angel. Lastly, John revealed the message by recording it in the book we now read in the back of our Bibles.” Jeremiah, David. Angels: Who They Are and How They Help--What the Bible Reveals.
Proclamation: The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen…” Matthew 28:5-7a.
Angels announce a God happening or an important event to observe. Come, make haste to see what the Lord has done! Also, when John the Baptist’s birth was announced to Zacharias: And the angel answered and said to him, “I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. Luke 1:19.
God’s angel is given the proclamation of the gospel or the ‘last call’ to the earth: Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people— Revelation 14:6.
Direction: angels give guidance from God, with clear and specific instructions. But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, “Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.” Acts 5:19-20.
Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, ‘Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.’ So, he started out.… 8:26-27.
“Here we have personal angels to take care of us. If you allow them, they will make sure you go the right way, not your agenda, but what God has for you. I want you to know that you are never alone, your angel is always with you, to protect and guide you, if you will obey.” Wanda Rust.
And angels can help us change direction as was the case with my dream of Angelica ~ The Postal Worker. Watch for angels in your dreams to give you direction of what you should and/or shouldn’t be doing. Check out this true account: Crescent Rolls, please!
