As I have said: “The spiritual gift of Helps gives one the ability to see what needs to be done and take care of it. People with this gift have a desire to help others by meeting daily responsibilities in practical ways. Rather than looking for someone else to do the task, they will often tackle it themselves.
They are willing to “lend a hand” and do the most mundane and disagreeable tasks with a spirit of humility and grace. Helpers volunteer to work regularly around church buildings and grounds, often laboring in obscurity.”
The following two stories are just that, someone with the gift of Helps stepping in to lift a burden. Now, both of these stories could include angel interaction because that is always a possibility! The first story is from my sister, Mindy in her own words.
“Yesterday morning, I was at Lowes buying some potting soil contained in big heavy bags. I was wheeling my cart out to my car, and I kept thinking ‘How am I going to lift up these bags with my hurt back muscle into the back of the 4 Runner?’ I opened the back of the car and out of nowhere came a nice-looking man saying, ‘If I put your potting soil in the car for you, may I have your cart?’ I said ‘Sure, no problem!’
He lifted all the bags into my car, and he even put my plants in, too! Then, I was going to put the plastic down and place the plants on the plastic when he said ‘Oh, I should have done that for you.’ Then, he proceeded to lay the plastic down and moved the plants onto it as well!!!
I felt no fear from this stranger and off he went after wishing me a good day. Usually, I am very leery and on guard, but I felt no anxiety or suspicion at all. I thanked Jesus for sending an angel to help me. Thank you, Jesus for a helper!”
Was that a person with the gift of Helps or an angel? Either way, he got the job done, he got her cart and Mindy ended up praising God.
This next experience happened on the same day to my niece, Carrie (Mindy’s daughter). This was more of an angelic help-intervention, in my opinion! But both Mindy and Carrie have the gift of helps too!
“I had a young client in my salon for her eyebrows. She and her family are of another faith (not Christian). I knew this fact already. The young client brought a friend, perhaps, of the same faith as her friend.
My music playlist I play all the time at the salon suddenly changed to Christian music…on its own when they walked in! They left and the playlist changed back to the regular playlist I have set for the salon! What?????
I started listening to the words and thought, ‘Oh my gosh, this is worship music.’ I usually play Coffeehouse Chill, but this was Christian worship music. And when they walked out the door it changed back all on its own.
I just thought “OH GOSH, GOD, YES!!!”
