I am going to illustrate through a dream, how the Lord can prepare you for new gifts He will send ahead (into the future) for you. This particular dream occurred after I was diagnosed with ALS and before that same diagnosis was rescinded. In that one-year window, I had multiple dreams of a new job on the horizon which helped fuel my faith to believe I was not dying. And, that God had more work for me to do for His glory.
The dream I call Baby Shower Gifts occurred five years ago. Yet, I believe its fulfillment has been realized only recently. Here is the dream:
I was at a temporary place of employment; I went upstairs to meet with the top important person. When climbing the stairs, I noticed I had no shoes on...only bright cobalt blue tights.
This would offend who I was going to see, and I would not do that, so I turned around and headed back down the stairs. Once I was back at my workstation, it was a mess with strewn clothes I had to pick up and put in bags to carry out with me when I left the job. I picked up the clothes and put them away in bags under my desk. Someone walked over my mess and glared at me. I continued cleaning up.
Then I noticed a bag with a lot of baby presents in it and around on the floor that belonged to me too. I picked up the little square wrapped packages (silver wrappings) and put them in a larger bag with other baby gifts; some of other shapes and sizes. I picked up all the gifts and consolidated them into a big gift bag. I was getting ready to leave this job.
Upon waking, I received a scripture: 2 Corinthians 2:12 “...and a door was opened to me by The Lord.”
At the time I asked my sister, Sherry to help with the interpretation: “Your position now is temporary truth. You're going upstairs - possibly to see God. You are climbing up the stairs - you feel you are on your way to see God - your illness. You descend the stairs - I feel it is not failure or retreat, but that it's just not your time yet.
You have no shoes on - you are not fully ready to go be with Him. The color blue is a spiritual color and the color of the chosen children of Israel. You don't want to offend God and not complete the work, your purpose. He still has work for you to do.
The strewn mess of clothing - you are not sure of your purpose or part, yet you put the clothing into bags - you may be thinking that you can get it under some kind of control and figure it out once the mess is in some place that is contained. Someone walks over the mess glaring at you - definitely the enemy watching you, making you doubt and fear your position now.
The baby gifts in all shapes and sizes - these I feel are the new beginnings, new experiences and ministry you will be given - gifts are only gifts if they are given. Silver is the color of wisdom. Wrapped gifts - you have no idea yet what these gifts are or will be, but because they are left for you, you must gather them up and consolidate them into a larger bag, keeping them for a time yet to be, when the time is right from God.”
I believe her interpretation to be spot on. But it has taken five years for the gifts to be unwrapped. What are the tools that the Spirit sent ahead for me? I know it was the ability to write the book I wrote, another is dream interpretations; and finally, the writing and managing of this website. The gift to hear the Lord’s voice with what and when He wants me to post articles and definitely, the writing of such!
Believe you me, I have no experience as a writer; but I am a ‘Scribe’ for our God. He is the One who fills my head with ideas and the flowing of words. Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? (Isaiah 43:19).
The gifts in operation when I write are prophecy, the word of wisdom and the gift of knowledge. These all work simultaneously together to reveal a deeper revelation of His word for His website’s articles.
I challenge you to ask the Lord to bring to remembrance any dreams you have had that might point to a future where new gifts are waiting for you. I know I am not alone in this for the same Spirit lives in all of us!
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. (Ephesians 4:4-6).
