Ask the Lord for the Rain

In late July, I awoke to: Ask the Lord for rain in the time of the latter rain.  The Lord will make flashing clouds; He will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone. Zechariah 10:1.

A day later, I was sent a dream that surprised me with its meaning.  At first, I thought it to be a Godly reprimand, but after prayerful contemplation, I see it differently.

In the dream, my sister Wendy was driving me.  We drove to an on-ramp of a freeway heading west.  It was slightly raining.  I noticed that ocean waters had come in and covered the on-ramp.  Not too deep but scary enough for me to think ‘We have to drive through that?’

I saw grass growing on the ramp under the shallow ocean water.  I was uneasy driving through the water and a little afraid that we wouldn’t make it through.  But the waters receded as we approached so we could make it up onto the freeway.

Once on the upper road, all was clear as we progressed westward.   I awoke to: Joel 2:28 Then afterwards I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions.

More scripture came: Isaiah 51:10 Are You not the One who dried up the sea, the waters of the great deep; that made the depths of the sea a road for the redeemed to cross over?  What?!?  Did you see that?  This verse depicts my dream!  The sea became a road and we crossed over it.

What is God inferring?  For starters, a highway is “The Way: The Christian faith; truth; way of life; Christ.  And going west by extension can stand for ‘the cross.’  Revival comes by way of the cross; therefore, west can signify ‘revival’: Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so, the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field (Zechariah 10:1).

Those revival showers come right out of the west. Jesus said, “When ye see a cloud rise out of the west, straightway ye say, ‘There cometh a shower; and so it is’. (Luke 12:54b).”  Milligan, Ira L., The Ultimate Guide to Understanding the Dreams You Dream (p. 125).

I was stunned when I looked up the symbolism for the direction ‘west’ in my handy dream book as it was the same verse that I was given the day before the dream.  Later in the evening, I received Leviticus 26:4-5 I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.  Your threshing shall overtake the vintage, and the vintage shall overtake the sowing; you shall eat your bread to the full and live securely in your land.

And lastly, another address of Job 11:16-18 (which actually references Leviticus 26:5!).  Because you would forget your misery and remember it as waters that have passed away (like the ocean waters on the on-ramp but then cleared up!).  And your life would be brighter than noonday. Though you were dark, you would be like the morning. And you would be secure, because there is hope; Yes, you would dig around you, and take your rest in safety.

The Lord continued to speak reminding me of Elijah who (in a spiritual battle with King Ahab over the nation) saw a cloud before a torrential rain hit in 1 Kings 18:41-45.  He ascended Mt. Carmel to pray for rain (revival).  On the seventh request, a cloud the size of a fist arose out of the sea to bring about black clouds and a heavy rain!

God wanted me to notice the cloud arose out of the west, just as Jesus said in Luke 12:54b.  As Elijah stood on Mt. Carmel, he faced westward looking at the sea.  How do I know, because I looked at a map in my bible.

Even better, in the post Elijah Callings I quoted: “I believe every prophet alive today is called to be an Elijah prophet. Whatever else we are called to be and do, we are Elijahs. We are to walk in the spirit and power of Elijah.” Sandford, John Loren. Elijah Among Us.

And He answered and said, “Elijah is coming and will restore all things.” Matthew 17:11.

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord. Malachi 4:5.

Let’s bring this all together.  If you recall I have said in previous posts about my sister Wendy, she has been used as a ‘driving’ voice through which God speaks to me.  Hence, her driving me is symbolic of the Lord’s voice in this dream driving me through the on-ramp up to God’s highway, headed westward toward revival.

And west not only symbolizes revival, but also the end of a day…sunset.  Referring back to the scripture of Malachi 4:5, Elijah will come before the great and terrible day of the Lord ushering in the latter rain!  And a thought, we live in the “West” as in America and me, California…Revival could come out of the west.  California, U.S.A!

If you have read my two posts; He Who Has an Ear, Let Him Hear and The Latter Rain on Its Way ... you can see a pattern in what the Lord is announcing.  The Latter Rain, revival and the great day of the Lord is being declared.  Our God is marching on!

The Lord is preparing us to get wet, what will be your part in this?
