We come to the final Archangel in this series that we will investigate, Phanuel. The name Phanuel means “Face of God” or “He Turns to God”.
“Phanuel's duties include bearing up God's throne, ministering Truth, and serving as an angel of judgement. According to The Book of Enoch, Phanuel is the fourth angel "set over repentance and those who hope to inherit eternal life" [Enoch, Chapter 40:9]. He is the fourth voice heard [Enoch, Chapter 40:7] "fending off the Satan’s (adversaries or accusers) and forbidding them to come before the Lord of spirits to accuse them who dwell on the earth".
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God, day and night, has been cast down. Revelation 12:10.
Could it be Phanuel's voice that John heard in Revelation 12:10? Maybe, it is possible as our Bibles do not indicate whose voice is proclaiming salvation, and the fall of the accuser of the brethren.
Could it also be possible that this Archangel plays a role in opening the eyes of those who will inherit salvation as Jesus spoke of to Paul in the book of Acts? “…to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.” Acts 26:18.
In a similar way when an angel helped me open my eyes in a dream, The Postal Worker – Angelica which is posted under Watchman Dreams. “As she pulled me up, so my head was out of the water, she wanted me to notice where we were. Did I recognize my surroundings? She asked me to open my eyes, but I couldn’t open my eyes. I kept trying to open them and then, they opened.” Again, it is possible. I don’t know.
On a last note of the subject, as I posted on Uriel last week, I wanted to include: “There is some debate over whether Uriel and Phanuel are the same angel. While some people associate Phanuel with Uriel, many differentiate the two. In the Book of Enoch, Uriel is listed as the fourth angel, while Phanuel is referred to as the ‘Angel of Penance’. Uriel means “God is my flame”, whereas Phanuel means “He Turns To God”.
Though we don’t distinguish much about the angels not written about in our Christian Scriptures, we do know one thing, and that is they do the throne work of God. And perhaps, that’s enough for us to know…glory to God in the highest!
Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation? Hebrews 1:14.
