When I was growing up, I wanted to be a secret agent. Born during the cold war era, many television cartoons and programs were based upon secret agents. Anyone remember “Get Smart”, Man from U.N.C.L.E., or the British 1960s adventure series The Avengers? I love those shows. These days though, the Lord is calling me to be an Agent of Peace, His peace.
The Lord drove home this message via a recent dream. In the dream, I wanted to make an appointment with the new leadership of my former church. I wanted to review everything and see a good outcome. I set an appointment. When the time came for the appointment, no one showed up.
Instead, a woman who was dressed in all white arrived. I sensed she was a nurse. I began my overview which I would have given to the new church leadership, then I woke up. Even though it wasn’t the outcome I wanted, I had a sense of peace about it.
As I contemplated the dream, I heard in my spirit, “Everyone jump on the Peace train”. This, of course is from the song by Cat Stevens. Here are a portion of the lyrics:
Glide on the peace train
Come on, now peace train
Yes, peace train holy roller
Everyone jump on the peace train
Come on, now peace train
Get your bags together
Go bring your good friends, too
Because it's gettin' nearer
It soon will be with you
I believe the Lord is calling all of us who will seek His covering of peace, to be Agents of Peace. I also heard in a recent prayer time, “Keep your peace”. In fact, Jesus has said in so many words, ‘Let your peace return to you’ in certain situations.
“When you enter a house, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’ If someone who promotes peace is there, your peace will rest on them; if not, it will return to you.” Luke 10:5-6 (NIV).
Jesus is commanding us to stay in peace and if faced with a situation of losing that peace because of controversy, take your peace back and keep it! In other words, if we offered peace as a gift and it is rejected, withdraw the gift and keep it ourselves. I like to think of it as offering a piece (peace) of sweet chocolate to someone but if they don’t want it; I will eat it myself! Yum!
If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. Matthew 10:13.
Stay in peace and keep your peace, my friends. Everyone jump on the peace train!
