I am going to take some time to probe the winds of revival. The winds of Heaven that I sense are next to blow through our state on their way eastward.
Just as the physical rains we have received in the west spread eastward, this weather experience was a sign to us that the spiritual rains will be poured out in the same way. Starting in the west and moving eastward will be the winds of revival, blowing through the country like a wind-swept force of His Spirit.
As a matter of fact, since the rains ended a few months ago, our county has experienced a windy spring season going into summer.
The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes... John 3:8.
“Wind is translated from a Hebrew word that can also mean Spirit. So, it seems the Hebrew word can have the meaning of moving Spirit because wind moves.” The Four Winds of Heaven Are the Four Realms.
“Wind is often a demonstration of God’s awesome power and due to its potential to destroy things with its sweeping strength, wind is employed as an image of God’s judgment.
Just as we cannot see wind but notice its sometimes very powerful effects, so it is with the Holy Spirit. The Spirit’s role is to glorify the Father and the Son and to indwell believers- both tasks make him unseen and yet highly noticeable. Further, the Holy Spirit works in unpredictable ways; we can’t control or manipulate Him to do our bidding, nor can we anticipate what He will do next.” SIGNS & SYMBOLS OF THE BIBLE (WIND).
Unless the Spirit tells us, I might add. Which He did on March 27, 2007, the same day I started praying for revival. The Lord provided a sign of an extremely windy day with gusts up to 50 mph to match His prophetic word! “And as I move in to dwell with you, I will make My presence known. The storm and wind will blow out the dross and those that have been refined as pure gold will be left and I will reveal Myself to them.”
I asked the Lord, “How am I going to know that His revival has arrived?” Here is what He said from my prayer journal:
“My daughter, you have asked well and I have been waiting to respond to you. For I have purposed a new move of My Spirit, a new way of revival. Though I tarry, wait for Me to send a holy rushing wind upon the participants. It will not look like any other move that has gone before it. I do not want My people stuck looking for a move of My Spirit that has come and gone. Draw near to Me in the secret place of your heart, yes, in the silent corner where I plant your dreams, draw near to Me and see Me bring your hidden hopes to life. You will not be disappointed.”
Seek the Lord while He may be found and call upon His name while He is near. Isaiah 55:6.
And now for a little while grace has been shown from the Lord our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a peg in His holy place, that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a measure of revival in our bondage. Ezra 9:8.
I am spurred on to investigate the winds of Heaven because I recently had God bring up the subject via a television program. More on that program my next post, Blows from the West. But the day I started writing this short series, my husband commented to me on how ‘windy’ it was that day😊
So, join me in asking the Holy Spirit to blow on us!
