For those of you who helped pray in the physical rains for California...they're here!  God announced them in July and the Lord is faithfully providing.  Next, we will receive our spiritual rain.  Let's worship Him!

For since the beginning of the world men have not heard nor perceived by the ear, nor has the eye seen any God besides You, who acts for the one who waits for Him.  Isaiah 64:4.

California Lake Flooded for First Time in 110 Years After Atmospheric River:  "Owens Lake in Inyo County, 220 miles north of Los Angeles was naturally full of water until the Los Angeles Aqueduct was constructed in 1913, which took so much water from the Owens River that the lake began to dry out. It remained mostly dry until this March, when the heavy rainfall in California caused the lake to fill back up. This also marks the first time that the Los Angeles Aqueduct was breached by extreme weather."

California's historic winter to fill SoCal's largest reservoir previously drained due to drought;  "Hemet, Diamond Valley Lake, the state's largest reservoir, has begun to refill for the first time in three years after years of record-breaking drought, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California said."

God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend. For He says to the snow, ‘Fall on the earth’; likewise, to the gentle rain and the heavy rain of His strength. Job3:5-6.

California’s winter of extreme storms has brought the drought-ravaged state one of the largest snowpacks on record, with officials saying on Monday that they expect it could be the greatest documented in 70 years.

"A series of winter snowstorms have offloaded more than 700 inches of snow on California’s Sierra Nevada mountains since the beginning of October, making this winter the second snowiest on record, a hopeful sign amid a years-long drought, with more stormy weather on the way." 700 Inches Of Snow: Sierra Nevadas Face 2nd-Snowiest Season On Record (msn.com).

The Los Angeles Times noted: "As of Friday, the snowpack in the southern Sierra Nevada was at 286% of normal — the highest figure ever, easily eclipsing the region’s benchmark of 263% set in 1969.

Statewide, the snowpack is at 228% of normal, hovering near the record level set in the April 1 survey of 1952, 237% of average. According to the University of California Berkeley Central Sierra Snow Lab, the 2022-2023 has been the second snowiest on record — and it could surpass the record mark set in 1952, with more snow on the way in an upcoming “atmospheric river” that will be the season’s 13th."

"The cumulative effect of the intense precipitation amounts throughout the winter months has led to remarkable improvements in the long-term drought that plagued California prior to the start of winter. According to the latest report published by the United States Drought Monitor on March 16, approximately 36% of the state is in drought compared to 98% at the beginning of October.

Percentages above normal for the Sierra snowpack as of March 16, 2023.

The additional bouts of wintry weather will further increase the snowpack in the Sierra, which is running as high as 272% above the historical average in southern portions of the mountain range.

Is California under God's judgment due to all this weather?  On the contrary, He is blessing us with an overabundance of His showers from heaven.  I believe these rains will continue through March and perhaps April as the Lord of the Harvest is preparing us for the Latter Rain.  This weather is a sign to us confirming His prophecy from August 2022.   The Latter Rain on Its Way.

"Severe droughts rocked a lot of the world last year, and the western US was hit especially hard, leaving reservoirs heavily depleted. Almost miraculously though, these winter storms have so far been able to restore California's reservoirs, and with extra storms and snow melts on the way, there's going to be even more water to replenish the reservoirs."

Forgive me if I brag about our Lord, but He has outdone Himself with answers to our prayers.  I want you to notice the three's going on here.  2023 (the year of our Lord), would have been a third year of drought (three is symbolic for the Trinity); yet God will bring it to an end surprising all who thought they knew better!

And our snowpack being the highest in thirty years is amazing.  Thirty is the Trinity multiplied by ten.  How great is our God?

“The snowpack in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California is at the highest level since 1995, thanks to a series of “atmospheric river” storms at the new year, and another this week, holding hopes for ending the drought.

The storms come after three years of extreme drought, which meteorologists said would last through a third winter, thanks to a pronounced La Niña effect, which typically brings dry weather to the California coast.

But one storm in the fall was followed in December by a barrage of storms that left California’s ski resorts with the deepest snow in the nation in some places. And now the snowpack is the highest it has been in 30 years."

"Coming into this winter, California was mired in a three-year drought, with forecasts offering little hope of relief anytime soon. Fast forward to today, and the state is waterlogged with as much as 10 to 20 inches of rain and up to 200 inches of snow that have fallen in some locations in the past three weeks...The Climate Prediction Center’s initial outlook for this winter favored below-normal precipitation.

However, after a series of intense moisture-laden storms known as atmospheric rivers, most of California has seen rainfall totals 200 to 600 percent above normal over the past month, with 24 trillion gallons of water having fallen in the state since late December."

The tumultuous start to the year for California continued on Tuesday as the strongest in a series of storms tapped into a firehose of moisture...another round of weather to start the week as an atmospheric river unloaded more than a month's worth of rain in one day."

"Nearly 30 stations across the state have recorded their largest snowpack on record to date. The northern Sierra snowpack climbed to 176% of normal for Jan. 10, and the central and southern Sierra saw even bigger departures from average snowpack for the date at 214% and 257% of normal."

1/9/23

"Snowfall totals have greatly increased since Nov. 1, 2022, when there was no snow in the Sierra Nevada snowpack. The southern Sierra holds the highest percentage of normal snowpack for the date at 219%, according to the California Department of Water Resources."

1/6/23

"The atmosphere has flipped the switch to storm mode as the weather pattern through mid-month has the potential to unleash more than a foot of additional rain in some locations and many more yards of snow over the high country of the Sierra Nevada.

"Factoring in the storms that began in late December forward through mid-January, rainfall and mountain snow in some areas could rival amounts that do not occur, on average, for 25 or 50 years or more," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Mike Doll said."

"An atmospheric river will arrive in California starting Wednesday (1/4/23) and linger through Thursday, according to forecasters. Another is set to arrive Saturday.

“Atmospheric rivers” are movements of moist air from the central Pacific to the California coast, where they encounter mountains that force the air to colder altitudes, causing precipitation.

The “bomb cyclone” phenomenon is rarer, and indicates a zone of rapidly dropping air pressure, fueling high winds around its perimeter. One such “bomb cyclone” caused a major storm elsewhere in the U.S. last month.

This winter was predicted to be another dry La Niña year for California — the third dry year in a row of a severe drought. But rains began arriving early, and a major storm on New Year’s Eve."

Sandbags in San Francisco: California Braces for 'Bomb Cyclone' Rainstorm (breitbart.com)

"On Wednesday morning, the threatening storm system resembled a potent comma-shaped swirl on water-vapor satellites as it lurked ominously off the West Coast. It was both meteorologically striking and foreboding — even the Weather Service office in the Bay Area tweeted: “As we prepare for the incoming weather, let’s take a moment to pause and look at the visible imagery and marvel at what Mother Nature is sending our way.

On Saturday, 5.46 inches of rain fell in San Francisco making it the city’s second wettest day in over 170 years.  There are two more possible storms also out in the Pacific, both could bring higher-than-normal rain levels through the middle of January...one or possibly more atmospheric river events."
