I struggle to understand the full meaning of a dream I was recently given. I know it is from God because not only did it involve a physical sign but also, scripture addresses. However, I’m not sure if He’s talking about Believers or Unbelievers. In addition, individuals or our country as a whole. In any event, it could be both involving anyone who has eyes to see but cannot (or will not) see.
In the dream I am squatting naked under an overpass. I am very close to the top of the overpass or bridge, actually tucked underneath it, sitting, with my knees up. I was looking at my naked feet. I was alone. No other human activity anywhere.
Everything in the scene was tan colored, including me. I noticed the highway above my head though my eyes were drawn to the ground below me. Down the slope from my perch under the bridge, the ground was imbedded with stones the size of fists.
I sensed I had to get down from where I sat, but the ground below was too painful to walk on (with bare feet). I didn’t want to get down. This is where the dream gets weird!
I knew I was seeing the ground, but my eyes were shut. Somehow with my eyes being closed, I tried to open them to get down from the stoop. My eyes wouldn’t open. Then, I tried to open my eyes in real life as I wanted to look at my bed-stand clock, but the eyes wouldn’t open. Yep, weird…huh?
Finally, with effort I opened my eyes to read the clock. I received two verses:
And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand and seeing you will see and not perceive. For this nation’s heart has grown hard, and with their ears they hardly hear, and they have [tightly] closed their eyes. Otherwise, they would see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and turn [to Me] and I would heal them [spiritually]. (Matthew 13:14-15).
When favor is shown to the sinful, he does not learn what is right and good. He goes on doing what is wrong in the land of those who are right. He does not see the wonderful power of the Lord. O Lord, Your hand is lifted up but they do not see it. (Isaiah 26:10-11a).
I also heard “Naked Eyes and Keep Watching”. There aren’t that many symbols so let’s review them.
Overpass - under the protection of a highway. Highway is The Way; a Christian’s walk or life’s path. It’s also God’s way…the HIGH WAY! Prepare the way for the people; Build up, Build up the HIGHWAY! Take out the STONES, Lift up a banner for the peoples! (Isaiah 62:10b).
Rocky road below the bridge - a difficult possible painful walk. Rocks are also stumbling stones. And yet, Jesus is the Rock of our salvation.
Naked – exposed, humble or totally open and in plain full view. The same with bare feet – a humble or open walk.
Tan - earthly wisdom, man’s natural qualities or humanism.
Eyes - Prophetic vision, a Seer anointing or being watchful in prayer. Eyes closed - ignorant spiritual blindness that is mostly self-imposed. It is said that eyes are the windows to the soul.
My first inclination is that this dream is about me (I am alone). I can’t open my eyes myself. God has to help me. What am I not open to? What am I not seeing? I don’t want to come down from the comfort and protection of the overpass. I don’t want to walk on the rocky road below. It will hurt.
I am sure there will be things that I will not want to see, but I have to proclaim them anyways. I grieve when I see what’s coming- life will not be normal again. No vaccine and no amount of money will change the path God has set for our erring nation. Our road will be rocky. Yet, I am to proclaim what He wants shown.
And so it is with any prophetic gift, the holder of the gift should pray if the revelation is for themselves individually or for some other reason. With this dream, I believe there to be two meanings because of the scriptures and the physical sign given.
With that said, the verses I received are indicative of spiritual blindness and that of a nation. After further prayer, more was revealed. Therefore, prophesy concerning the land…and say to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys: ‘This is what the Sovereign Lord says: I speak in my jealous wrath because you have suffered the scorn of the nations. (Ezekiel 36:6).
Thus says the Lord: ‘Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; then you will find rest for your souls.’ But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’ Also, I set watchmen over you, saying, ‘Listen to the sound of the trumpet!’ But they said, ‘We will not listen’. (Jeremiah 6:16-17).
Okay, let’s dig in for the national interpretation. To start with, the highway above my head was deserted. Where were the people? Look again at Jeremiah 6:16-17. God is speaking to us collectively. Wanting us to ask, to see and to walk in the good way…but we will not. Does this sound like our country?
The ‘not seeing’ was confirmed three times. Three means a witness (as in eyes), divine fullness and Godhead confirmation. First, I could not open my eyes in the dream, second, I couldn’t open my eyes in waking and third, the scripture addresses confirm the eyes closed.
So, we know He is speaking to us. Now, for the naked eye interpretation. To begin with I was naked and had eye issues, hence, the phrase ‘Naked Eyes’. If something can be seen with the naked eye, it can be seen without the help of an instrument (i.e., the organism is too small to be seen with the naked eye).
Could the instrument that helps us see be God? And could He be planning something painful (the stone filled road) that the nation will have to walk in order to see the Lord’s Hand with naked eyes? Will we understand that it is from Him, turn and He will heal us (i.e., Matthew 13:14-15 above)?
Furthermore, naked eyes cannot see the spiritual but only the natural world. Yet, the spiritual world is the driving force behind the natural physical world. We are unable to see until Messiah opens our eyes (the eyes of the blind). The color tan is telling, meaning earthly wisdom, man’s natural qualities or humanism. The nation seeing through earthly means…the naked eye.
People shall be brought down, each man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled. (Isaiah 5:15).
Listen! Your watchmen will lift up their voices; together they shout for joy. When the Lord returns to Zion, they will see it with their own eyes. (Isaiah 52:8).
Perhaps we will see with our eyes and come down from our perch before we are forced down to the stony path. If we do not open our eyes, our road will become more rocky and painful. A nation who forsakes the Lord has blind eyes and deaf ears until He comes and rains righteousness on us. I hope we open our eyes. But as I was admonished, I will keep watching.
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. (Isaiah 35:5).
A highway shall be there, and a road, and it shall be called the Highway of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, although a fool, shall not go astray. (Isaiah 35:8).
And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, ‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True WITNESS, the Beginning of the creation of God’. (Rev. 3.14).
