Keep Watching

As you probably know, I am a firm believer in God speaking through dreams.  I believe He reveals things in dreams about our future that we are unable to grasp through prayer or other ways.  God can put a seed of desire in our hearts via dreams so that when they come to pass our emotions (desires) are caught up with His purposes. 

This is why I think so highly of recording one’s dreams, as you never know when the Lord will use them again to instruct.  If I don’t keep track of my dreams, perhaps I really don’t want to know what God is up to in my life.  Nevertheless, the Lord sends us dreams to launch us into our destinies with Him.  Such is the case with a dream I was given a month after the last presidential election.   

I bring this dream up now because it dawned on me that it has come to pass, and I didn’t even know it.  I recognized the dreams fulfillment as I reviewed my journal recently.

In the dream, husband and I had bought a piece of property on a slope with a view.  I was standing on the street talking to my friends, Patricia and Vincent (who have a radio program titled “Watchman on the Wall”).  I wanted to show them the property because it was on the same street as their house.  I also saw a former coworker from my Iron Mountain days (Andrea). 

I brought Patricia and Andrea to my house for a tour.  The house had just been built.  I sensed it was temporary and it was a ‘guard’ house (aka a place to watch from).  Patricia (and Vincent) had a similar house as I mentioned before.

As we entered my guardhouse, it was connected to my real-life house.  Passing down a three-foot-wide hallway, I knew the purpose of the structure was for the government/country.  It was like a bunker with only one large window.

At the end of the hallway and around the left (left means spiritual change) corner, was what used to be my kitchen.  The kitchen sink (which is in front of a large ‘garden-box’ window in real life) was moved to accommodate the guardhouse.  The only other thing I saw in the newly built building was a plant that had little roots waiting to be planted.

After prayer, I was told “Keep Watching” (I would hear that phrase frequently in the months preceding) and given a scripture address:

For You have been a strong place for those who could not help themselves and for those in need because of much trouble. You have been a safe place from the storm and a shadow from the heat. For the breath of the terrible ones who shows no pity is like a storm against a wall. (Isaiah 25:4).

The importance of this dream and why I am sharing it is to encourage attention to changes in our lives that impact our calling from the Lord.  The dream occurred a month after the last presidential election, alerting me to a change in the direction of my job for God.

How do I know this?  Well, first of all the the property bought and the building were ‘new’.  The plant with little roots was also indicative of a new planting which had roots to grow and expand.

That they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified. (Isaiah 61:3b).

Furthermore, Andrea (my old IM colleague) represents the prophecy she gave to me in 2010 on the last day of my Iron Mountain career.  Her prophecy was: “God has something better for you outside of here”.  Again, meaning something new for me to do for Him.  But what is the new assignment?

I know it has to do with watching as my house had a view.  It also had a large garden-box window to ‘watch’ from.  A ‘garden-box’ to plant the newly rooted plant in!  And Vincent’s real-life radio program is titled “Watchman on The Wall”.  I believe what I will watch or see from my window (window represents prophecy or gazing on what is to come) will get planted, grow roots and perhaps, become a tree to glorify God as Isaiah 61:3 proclaims.  

I’m a little concerned because my sink was moved to make room for a guardhouse.  What needs to be guarded and watched?  It has something to do with the country, government and/or national identity.  Kitchen is akin to the heart, and heart is where the home is.  Home is not only what city we live in, but also what country.

The sink being moved also suggests I will be doing watching (instead of washing!) which is more important than everyday chores.  The hall being three feet wide means a passage of time; three is divine witness.

I think you see where I’m going with this.  And to further confirm the Watchman calling (for both husband and I since ‘we’ bought the property); my daily devotional for that day was titled “The Watchman on The Wall”!

One last cementing of my understanding came when I remembered a dream from 2014 which had Vincent and Patricia in it again with Bobby and me.  We were all in the same white house together, resting.  I was looking for a place to dry my jeans because I needed them for Monday when we would start a new job.  The symbol of jeans is helpful in the interpretation; jeans mean work and completing your calling. 

This all adds up to a change of a spiritual nature in the purpose Bobby and I have been summoned to do.  A watchful position in our home safe for us and those who God will send our way, hence a ‘guardhouse’.

When he sees chariots with teams of horses, riders on donkeys or riders on camels, let him be alert, fully alert. And the lookout shouted, “Day after day, my LORD, I stand on the watchtower; every night I stay at my post. (Isaiah 21:7-9).

The next night after I had this dream, I had another short snippet while asleep that gave further revelation, titled “Be Exceedingly Glad”.  Until then, what has God called you to keep watching?  Be watchful with me.
