One beautiful day in 1996 (a day like any other day), my dear friend Pam invited me to go with her and her husband to Santa Ynez, Ca. for Jack Deere’s “Holy Spirit Conference”.  Being a busy working mother, I had to think about it.  Just as I was getting ready to decline, I had an overwhelming feeling that I should go.  I just love spending time with Pam, who is really not my friend, she is my heart 💜!  I said yes and never regretted my decision as the trip resulted in a lifelong Holy Spirit experience that I still encounter to this day.

During the conference, Jack Deere had all of us close our eyes for three minutes to see if the Holy Spirit would reflect anything to us.  About two minutes into this endeavor, I began to see this giant eye.  Clearly!  I shrugged it off thinking it was my tired overloaded life.  I dismissed it.

Besides seeing the “Eye”, I also had a vision of our friend Cindy standing in the middle of a lot of little children (not American).  They were all surrounding her and I sensed it was an orphanage. To my disbelief, after I told Cindy what I saw, she gasped as the Lord was directing her to do that very thing.

Cindy started Threshold Ministries that year and her work resulted in feeding and schooling hundreds of orphans in China for over twenty years!

After the conference, we went to eat and as I closed my eyes to bless our food, I saw the “Eye“!  This “Eye” has always remained with me as I pray.  Over two decades later, I dropped into my Church to pray on a regular weekday.  As my eyes looked up, I saw this beautiful stain glass window with the “Eye” in the middle and atop of Jesus’s head.

“For the eyes of the Lord run to and from throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”  (2 Chronicles 16:9).

In conclusion, a song came to mind, I never ever sing or think of this song!

Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory (The Battle Hymn of the Republic)
Mine EYES have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord; He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored; He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword; His truth is marching on.
Refrain:
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
I have seen Him in the watchfires of a hundred circling camps, they have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps; I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps; His day is marching on.
(Refrain)
He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat; He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat; O be swift, my soul, to answer Him; be jubilant, my feet!  Our God is marching on.
(Refrain)
In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea, with a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me; as He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free, while God is marching on.
(Refrain)
He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave, He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave; so, the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of wrong His slave.
Our God is marching on.

As I said, this is many years after the conference as well as many different interpretations.  I have asked different people their thoughts on the “Eye”, including Pastors, Priests and friends.  Finally, my own heartfelt interpretation is “The Eye of God is watching me” and that is enough for me on this earthly journey.  I am yours Father, Amen 🙏

A Follow-Up to Gloria's "Eye of God”

My friend Cindy who is mentioned in Gloria’s “Eye of God” story, has a beautiful memory of the event that I want to share.  Here is her written account to me:

“Did I ever tell you that there were others who saw the eye? Me included. But the wonderful thing that happened is that one of the prayer people, a gentleman from Santa Ynez Pres, got a miraculous healing in his eye that night.

We were on the team to organize the event together and at the wrap up meeting following the event, he shared his story with us. He had gone to his doctor to make sure and had been told the eye was healed! I know he had been losing his vision but don’t remember exactly what was wrong. Still, it was exciting and we were all thrilled. It was a remarkable night.  I clearly remember Gloria taking my hand that night and telling me of her vision. Remarkable.”

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love.  (Psalm 33:18).
