I love dogs and it appears that the Lord can represent His guidance through His creatures. Let me tell you why I think this is so. It happened through a dream the other night.

I dreamed an adoring German Shepard was at my door begging to be adopted. I adopted him. I was then in a raft with him on a raging river. I was scared as we approached the falls but the German Shepard calmly guided us to safety. It was as if we hadn’t gone over the falls at all! He was certainly not a pet and I didn’t know his name.

Upon waking, I was prompted to ask God the name of the dog. Immediately, I heard “Torah”. So, I looked up what Torah meant. Besides being the first five books of the Hebrew bible; “Torah” in Hebrew is derived from the root which means ‘to guide’ or ‘to teach’. I then thought of a “guide” dog and interestingly, the original seeing eye dog for the blind was a German Shepherd named Buddy.

Was Torah a manifestation of the Lord or was he an angel? Either way, it reminds me (us) that the Lord sends His creatures (created beings aka angels) to guide us.

In addition, a river can represent our lives or circumstances therein. But a river can also symbolize the Holy Spirit; a move of God which is what I believe it means in this dream. The coming move of God will be almost scary, wild and flowing swiftly. He will be with us to guide us through, Hallelujah!

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear…though the waters roar and be troubled…There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacle of The Most High. Psalm 46:1-4.
