As I have said: “All of the ministry offices are held to the exalted high standards of God with the maturity in the fruits of the Spirit in evidence. However, a pastor and a teacher are held to even stricter standards because they influence God’s sheep. All of the offices are in covenant with God, but these are in covenant with God and His church.
The Lord’s protection of His flock is like none other and those who stand in the Offices of Pastor & Teacher take note. God has harsh words for those who have questionable motives and hidden agendas! Integrity of heart and the purest of intentions, gifted with wisdom should be the cornerstone.”
The Office of Teacher ~ is the last finger on the Hand of God. And certainly not the least of the digits, a teacher’s function is to prepare the sheep for living a godly life. In addition, directing the Body through the teaching of God’s word to fulfill their individual and collective callings. As we have seen a teacher’s ministry can work in tandem with a pastor.
“This ministry may be stationary (such as pastoral) or traveling ministry. But one thing is constant. This office carries with it the distinct anointing to take the mysteries of God's Word and make it clear to the understanding of those who hear. The Offices of Pastor and Teacher are quite similar. A pastor will be required to be a teacher to his flock much of the time. Many times, a teacher who has a stationary ministry will stand in a pastoral position.” Five Fold Ministry Offices (weebly.com).
So, too, the Office of Teacher has a grave responsibility to be aware of when answering the call. According to James 3:1, “Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”
“Those who aspire to leadership within the church are held to a higher standard than other believers because of the great influence teachers wield. Their works and their words carry a greater weight than those who are not teaching. If teachers fall, they can take many people with them; therefore, God will judge teachers of the Word according to the kind of impact they had on those they aspired to lead.” What does it mean that teachers will be judged more strictly (James 3:1)? | GotQuestions.org
What gifts of the Holy Spirit operate consistently in a teacher?
“A common response to the ministry of a teacher would be, ‘Ah, now I get it!’ A teacher makes the prospect of living a powerful, authoritative life within reach through the expounding of God's Word; taking the unfathomable truths of God and making them reasonable.” Five Fold Ministry Offices (weebly.com).
With that explanation, we can clearly see what spiritual gifts would operate consistently in a teacher called to the office. First, the Word of Knowledge to reveal the deep things of the Word; prophecy in a way to preach and forthtell God’s lessons; and the Gift of Faith to believe what is being taught will result in changed lives. Henry Adams said: “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.”
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be still wiser; teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. (Proverbs 9:9).
If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed. (1 Timothy 4:6).
In conclusion, God wants to give to all of us shepherds according to His own heart. As it is written in Ezekiel 34:23a “I will establish one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them." And Jeremiah 3:15 “And I will give you shepherds according to My heart, who will feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
If you have been blessed with a loving, caring and compassionate pastor or teacher; you are surely smiled upon by God. It is like manna and honey to your soul, I am sure!
