The spiritual realm dictates what happens in the physical realm; on earth as it is in heaven, Lord.  God has decreed that much of what will take place on earth will take place through the intercession of the saints. That’s part of His purpose. The natural life breath of every Christian is intercession and burden-bearing.” Sandford, John Loren. Elijah Among Us.

I’ve heard it said: ‘prophets are the mouth of God, missionaries are His feet, but intercessors are His heart.’  So, what is a prophetic intercessor you may ask?  A prophetic intercessor is one who makes mediation for a region, situation and/or person(s) as directed by God. The Lord is the Initiator and the intercessor doesn't stop praying until God gives the word that the situation has been taken care of.  Most of the time, He gives no roadmap, only direction on a need-to-know basis.

A prophetic intercessor is like being a ‘spy’ for God aka a secret agent.  He calls and gives you the subject; a small amount of instruction and then, wants you to watch, listen and act when He gives the command.  Now, I know why I liked spy and secret agent shows as a child, because I am a spy and a secret agent for God!  Most times, the ‘chosen one’ stands (like a prophet) before the Lord, alone.

Therefore, He said that He would destroy them, had not Moses His chosen one stood before Him in the breach, to turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them.  Psalms 106:23.

“This inspired form of intercession is the urge to pray, given by the Holy Spirit, for a situation or circumstance about which you may have little natural knowledge. But you are praying the prayer request that is on the heart of God. He nudges you to pray so that He can intervene. The Holy Spirit Himself directs you to pray in a divine manner to bring forth His will on earth as it already is in heaven.

Prophetic intercession is the ability to receive a prayer request from God and pray it back to Him. God’s hand comes on you, and He imparts His burden to you. Prophetic intercession is not as much praying to God as it is praying with God…letting God’s heartbeat pulse in our own beings.” The Power of Prophetic Intercession - by James W. Goll.

Prophetic intercessors are not a group of people coming together to pray from a list of things, though they are involved in prayer ministries.  More than anything, they are anointed and a chosen people of God for a specific purpose of burden-bearing.  In hearing the command from God to pray (through however the Lord chooses to recruit the intercessor), they embark on a journey of prayer that the Lord plans, directs and concludes.  Hence, prophetic intercession is not by the call of man to intercede but the order of God only aka the Angel of the Lord.

“See, I am sending an Angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared (our spiritual inheritance). Pay attention to Him and listen to what He says. Do not rebel against Him; he will not forgive your rebellion, since My Name is in Him. If you listen carefully to what He says and do all that I say, I will be an enemy to your enemies and will oppose those who oppose you.” Exodus 23:20-23.

“Burden-bearing is intercession. Intercession is distinct from every other kind of prayer in that it always begins in the heart of God. It is God brooding over His creation as at the beginning, finding what has become null and void or what needs His creative or healing touch. Because we have free will, God seeks invitation, so He searches for someone who will respond in prayer and invite Him to do what He wants to accomplish.” Sandford, John Loren. Elijah Among Us.

In other words, we will take the land that the Lord directs us to ask for and will possess the gates of our enemies.  We hear the call.  Then, we wait to hear the Lord on how to pray for a subject, person or situation instead of praying out of our own spirits.  This is the kind of prayer that God delights in.

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful… Colossians 4:2.

PRAY WITH ME:

Lord, allow me to be the one who will respond to You in prayer.  I invite You to do what You want through me to accomplish Your mighty plan in anything You share with me.  I want to be a part of bringing You glory and bringing to pass Your plans on this earth!

8/27/24 Selfless Intercession

"It is a divine principle that prayer has greater power when it is for someone else. Selfless prayers are the purest requests made known to God. “…pray for one another, that you may be healed…” (James 5:16).

When you commit to a life of isolated intercession, unseen before men, you will find kneeling next to you the Lord Jesus Himself who intercedes for the saints along with you. “It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us” (Romans 8:34).

The highest form of selfless intercession is not only towards those that cannot help you, but to those that would harm you. “Then Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do’…” (Luke 23:34).

If you only pray for yourself, then that says much about you. How off can we be, that even in our prayers to God we could be so selfish? “Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men” (1 Timothy 2:1).

Stop praying that the Lord would change His mind, but that He would change yours.

The Lord Jesus said, “But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly” (Matthew 6:6). The greatest rewards never come by way of other men.

To get closer to God you must become further from man. And when He [the Lord Jesus] had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there” (Matthew 14:23). If the Lord Jesus needed to be alone with the Father, how much more do we?

We are meant to be near to the Lord, and prayer is the means in which we get there. “The Lord is near to all who call upon Him…” (Psalm 145:18).

You are nearest to God when you are on your knees. If you want to grow more in your faith, pray more."  My faith combined with intercession, will take the impossible and make it real!
