First of all, I love cherries.  I love cherries in all forms; fresh, frozen, cooked, and I even adore the scent of cherry blossoms!  But it wasn’t until this recent dream I had that I understood the biblical meaning of cherries.  In addition, they also have a connection to this series on the gifts of the Spirit! He Gave Gifts to Men ~ Gifts of the Holy Spirit Series.

According to “What Do Cherries Symbolize in Art and Literature?”:

“In Christian texts, cherries’ spiritual meaning centers primarily on the miraculous and the divine. The fruit often grows or appears in unlikely circumstances, serving as evidence of God’s wondrousness and glory. The spiritual significance here is that with God, all things are possible — as shown when a cherry tree bends to allow its fruit to be picked.”  What Do Cherries Symbolize in Art and Literature? “Known for its sweetness, cherries symbolize a sweet character and the sweetness of Paradise. The Christ child is often shown holding a cherry.”  Symbolism of Fruit in Christian Art --Aleteia.

Let's dive into these cherries to see what the Lord wants to show us in this dream.

I was in a classroom audience with a woman teacher at the front.  I was preparing to teach the class on two topics, but I had not yet completed the lessons.

The last scene found me with the same woman who seemed to be my helpmate.  After I resolved two (phone) issues, she reviewed and approved my solutions.  I then found myself under a cherry tree with my shoes off.  Cherries were all over the ground and even in my shoes.

There was a bench under the cherry tree and as I sat on the bench, I proceeded to dump cherries out of my shoes before putting them on.  I awoke to a song by Crosby Stills Nash & Young: Teach Your Children.  The chorus:

Teach your children well
Their father's hell
Did slowly go by
And feed them on your dreams
The one they pick's the one you'll know by

If you recall, in past dreams a female presence has been interpreted as an angel or the Holy Spirit.  Since I was in the presence of a Teacher, I believe it represented the Spirit.  But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.  (John 14:26).

Apparently, I am learning from the Holy Spirit the things I will shortly present on this website.  Okay, easy enough.  The later part of the dream though is intriguing.  I resolved two phone issues, huh?  Well, phone is symbolic of communication.  So, I am assuming I unraveled the problem through prayer aka communication with the Spirit.  Once that was done, I found the divine cherries all over the ground and on the tree near me.

The problem I solved could be the few remaining gifts I need to write about, and the cherries are the reward for all of us who receive the lesson.  After prayer, I received Galatians 3:5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

Of course, you know the phrase, ‘the fruit doesn’t fall far from its tree’!   Our Tree (Vine) is Jesus, and we are the branches.  Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!  (Psalm 34:8).

Remember, cherries mean ‘the miraculous and the divine’… I believe the fruit of this series will result in us living the miraculous and the divine!
