An unknown thorn was revealed during the time when I was posting this series on forgiveness. Since Jesus is our King, "King means ruler, so He is the Ruler of the curse, too. That means everything in your life, even the sins, even the consequences, even the bad things, all the thorns in your life; He is Ruler over it and will use it for good. So, give thanks for everything, because He wore a crown not of gold to be the Lord of good things, but a crown of thorns to be Lord of all things, especially the thorns of your life.” (Message #1099 - Lord of Eden), Hope of the World Ministries.
For reasons only the Lord knows, I was sent a dream of a former prayer partner. She was one of the first ladies of prayer I met at my former church. It was hard enough to answer God’s call to pray back then, but she made it easy by welcoming me into the fold.
I learned much of the Spirit during our prayer sessions and the fellowship was sweet. We prayed fervently for revival and I have many fond memories to look back on! But I have not thought of her since I wrote my 1st book in 2018 when I had to recount a difficult encounter with her years before.
I wrote: “Even as people of prayer, we can be deceived by the enemy. As women we are particularly susceptible to deception; remember Eve in the Garden of Eden? Being the emotional sex and being prophetic (to any degree) can be a strong target for the enemy. Wouldn’t the enemy love to put division between people of prayer? Wouldn’t he love to cause the disruption of God’s work?” And that is what the enemy did between this sister and myself.
The story is told on page 329 (Sleeping with the Enemy) of my book, if you want to read it: 907294Humphrey-art.pdf (covenantbooks.com). Apparently, the thorn of unforgiveness remained deep in my heart unbeknownst to me until God called it forth to be dealt with through a dream.
The current dream had this sister going about life’s business at her home and I was invited to have dinner with her. Before we dined, I was in her backyard where I found a beautiful gold ring (studded with a few diamonds), I had given her years before. The ring had been lost and was laying on the ground. I recovered it and was to return it to her along with a new simple gold ring I brought with me. Upon waking, I understood the meaning.
A scripture address was given: 2 Corinthians 2:3-4 (Paul urges forgiveness) And I wrote this very thing to you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow over those from whom I ought to have joy, having confidence in you all that my joy is the joy of you all. For out of much affliction and anguish of heart I wrote to you, with many tears, not that you should be grieved, but that you might know the love which I have so abundantly for you.
A ring signifies a covenant (a covenant of prayer), as we had been prayer partners years before. Though it was time to part ways to protect both of us at the time of the split, what the enemy meant for harm God wants to restore. The eternal bond of prayer partners is recorded in Heaven’s annuals forever as a testament of our loyalty to our King.
Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, and the Lord listened and heard them; so, a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who meditate on His name. Malachi 3:16.
The two rings are a witness (past and present) to the kinship of prayer. Gold signifies the glory of God, wisdom, truth; something precious. And diamonds are hard, unchangeable; eternal (as in “a diamond is forever”). Also, something valuable and precious.
I still pray that we will see the revival (in whatever form that takes) that we have prayed so long for. I felt the Lord nudge me to locate her contact information. It took a morning of inquiries, but God provided her address. I wrote her a letter to wish her well and bless her.
Philippians 1:2-6 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God upon every remembrance of you…with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you (us) will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
I have been obedient to do as the Lord has asked in reaching out to bless this sister; it is now up to Him to do whatever His plan is with my obedience. I have no expectations except to know I was faithful to His request and that the thorn will be removed. And that is enough for me!
