Silence in Heaven

I have declared the former things from the beginning they went forth from My Mouth and I caused him to hear it suddenly I did them and they came to pass.  (Isaiah 48:3).

There is silence in heaven. It seems since the head pastor‘s passing, a soft cloud has settled on my shoulders. The courts of heaven are silent right now.  I have spent hours in prayer and for some reason the Godhead isn’t speaking.  Perhaps, He is speaking in silence.

As an intercessor I am comfortable in earthly silence, but I cannot say I am comfortable with the Lord’s silence. The stillness I am experiencing is not like He’s closed up the heavens with brass but it’s a soft waiting hush.  It is a ‘What is God going to do next?’ resolution.

There have been a few scriptures, however, no God dreams…just a holy reverent quiet.  I want to explore this silence and see if God will reveal its meaning.  My spirit senses His purpose is to make ready a people prepared for our Lord.  “Let the dead bury their dead.  Move on.”  Did the Lord just say that?  Yes, that is how succinct and sometimes, offensive to our ‘human’ ways God can be!

Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”  (Luke 9:60).

In early December 2021, the Lord instructed me to go to page 97 of Everyday Light devotional.  The chapter was starting in Habakkuk and referenced March 2007 when the head pastor mirrored his teaching with my morning devotional readings.  I was interested why God was bringing this up again.

I asked, “A mystery? Are You bringing to pass the words from 2007?  The head pastor’s words?”  I will wait to see what God will say to me.  The year 2007 was also when I was enlisted to pray for Revival!  Maybe, just maybe…the head pastor’s prophetic words are being brought to pass.

Be silent in the presence of the Lord God; for the day of the Lord is at hand, for the Lord has prepared a sacrifice; He has invited His guests.  And it shall be, in the day of the Lord’s sacrifice, that I will punish the princes and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with foreign apparel.  In the same day I will punish all those who leap over the threshold, who fill their masters’ houses with violence and deceit.  (Zephaniah 1:7-9).

But the Lord is in His holy temple.  Let all the earth keep silence before Him.  (Habakkuk 2:20).

What did he say?  Below are excerpts from the teachings starting on February 2007 and continuing through March 2007.

“God is silent, doesn’t He see what is going on down here…Is God being fair, is He being righteous for letting this continue the way He does?  You are silent; he who does evil gets away with it!  How long will You let this go on?  How long do I have to put up with this and how long do I have to wait for Your promise?  We may disagree but not disobey.  And lastly, God was angry and finally had enough and then He acted and removed them.”

It was eerily uncanny the way my prayer devotional book mirrored what the head pastor taught; I would read it first then later in the Wednesday night service, it was taught to the church.

“The prophet was praying for revival and asked God, ‘What are you doing?’  The prophet goes into the watchtower, the watchman was to see what danger was coming; he was to scream, warn danger and blow the trumpet.  God tells the prayers, and they see things from a heavenly perspective.  Before the danger happens, you are to warn My people, it is your job, My prophets, to warn My people when danger is coming, and it goes right into the New Testament today!”

“Trouble is coming; I tell you it is coming; if the watchman wasn’t faithful then he would have blood on his hands.  You are not responsible for their obedience or them listening to you, but you must warn them.  Judgment is coming; big bad trouble is coming.  I will give you a vision; Habakkuk was told to write it down, record it, write down what God said.”

“I want the people to know that I spoke to the prophet, so write it down and make it simple so people can understand.  The promise from God seems so slow, all the promises are still within the womb.  If God has given you a promise, don’t give up, hold on, wait for it.”

”He is bringing judgment on proud men.  He is a proud man, like Nebuchadnezzar…is this not the great Babylon that I have created?  Is this not the house that I have built?  Is this not my wife?  Is this not my company?  When you say that, pride (and judgment) lurks at the door!”

“God is going to bring His glory, the presence will be seen, Revival-Revival, you really want Revival?  Then you will get fire, our hearts will burn with fire, He will bring a Refiner’s Fire to us, He will burn away selfishness (building your own kingdoms); stealing (live in a house built on stolen goods); exploitation (built on the blood of innocent victims).  Get rid of the idols and replace it with the presence of the Living God.”

It was as if the head pastor was prophesying about himself.  I also believe the Lord was confirming all that I had heard about this man prior.  As a prophetic intercessor or prophet, one lives in the future and in the promises of God (what He has said).

The reality I live in at the moment does not line up with the reality that God has spoken about.  And such is the case with the passing of the head pastor.  When Gods word comes to pass, it’s like a puzzle piece being added to the heavenly puzzle.

I can step back and look at the whole picture again, looking to the future.  Those with a prophetic calling live in the ‘coming’ of what the Lord has whispered to them.  It is hard to live in the present when the voice of Eternity has shared His future plans.

I can acknowledge the current circumstance but am always watching for what comes next; what God has proclaimed will happen.  In His silence, I can start to behold His handiwork for the future fulfillment.

O Lord, I have heard Your speech and was afraid; O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years!  In the midst of the years make it known; in wrath remember mercy.  (Habakkuk 3:2).
