Many dreams can point to a transition in one’s life that the Lord is planning if we take the time to discern the pointers. I know He wants us to be curious about our dreams and night visions. Not to be scared of what we are being told and shown. His ‘dark speech’ in a dreamscape is to be vigorously sought to understand. Why?
Because, God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man does not perceive it. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, while slumbering on their beds, then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction. (Job 33:14-16).
Do you see that? He seals our instruction in other words, He makes clear to us what He expects of us.
“Dreams given by the Holy Spirit are distinct from other ways He speaks by the simple fact that when they occur, we are asleep. This means that the conscious mind is bypassed, and the Holy Spirit can convey messages with the least possibility of interference. Though the Lord can speak directly to us in dreams, as He did in telling Joseph about Mary’s pregnancy, dreams by nature are most often dark speech. They are a figurative method of communication that calls for pondering and praying. Sometimes God communicates through dreams rather than directly because He does not want to give our carnal minds, which often oppose God (see Romans 8:5–6), access to block or warp what He wants to say.
He may communicate through a dream when He wants to speak a direct message and does not want fear or any other emotion to send the mind reeling into flights of interruptive fantasies. Sometimes the Holy Spirit will bring Scripture references to mind and prod us to look them up. We usually do not know what those verses are until we open the Bible. Then the Holy Spirit quickens a personal meaning.” Sandford, John Loren. Elijah Among Us.
I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the Lord, who call you by your name, Am the God of Israel. Isaiah 45:3.
Wendy’s ‘Dancing in the Dark’ dream suggests through the dark speech of symbols, a coming transition for me and her. The signs I note in this dream representing a transition are: night time; a campfire, a trailer; and my wobbly legs. Night, we know is before a new day. Also, we established a campfire connotates ‘fellowship’; and it is contained or controlled. It is a temporary fire meaning one can end it by throwing water on it to put it out. And fire can move to a future campsite.
Next, a trailer is a temporary place and/or situation. My dream book records a trailer as an equipping or migrating ministry. Like camping out, it is transitory. Is God showing both of us that He is planning a transition for Wendy as I am being healed? In the beginning of the dream, Wendy is working out her faith by being obedient to make haste as told by the angel to “Come Quick”. She could also be hastening a transition by being obedient.
Lastly, I proclaimed: “Look my legs are just a little wobbly but they’ll be back to normal real fast!” A transition of my legs from wobbly to normal or strong! Do you see how the Lord by using dark speech communicates a message for both me and my sister? “Often the Lord will speak to His children in dark speech—a pun, a riddle, a figure, or a parable—when He could more easily have spoken directly. Why? His desire is for us to mature. Perhaps the simplest reason is that He must remain hidden to us.” Sandford, John Loren. Elijah Among Us.
In conclusion, it is important to learn the language of the night season and His dark speech as it will bring treasures to us in the future.
