Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7.
You do not have because you do not ask God. James 4:2b.
I don’t know about you, but I take the scriptures literally. I guess (like a child) when God says ask, I ask. And I ask all the time! So, this next story is a result of me asking about an issue I had in my body. This happened years ago, but I remember asking the Lord why I was getting bloated at the end of the day. As soon as I asked, I heard the Lord speak.
Of course, I thought I didn’t hear correctly and I continued eating cereal in the morning thinking how wonderful it was to get all that fiber, etc. But by the end of the day, I was bloated so I asked again. I heard the same thing which I couldn’t believe. I finally asked a third time and God said “Wheat”.
I was eating a “winter wheat” cereal in the morning. I stopped eating the cereal and my bloating stopped. A few years later I was tested for allergies and found that I have a wheat allergy. However, that didn’t stop me from eating pizza or noodles or garlic bread or croissants, but my favorite was crescent rolls with butter on them. As you can see, I wasn’t totally obedient, and did not give up wheat altogether.
So, over the years, I have eaten these food items with no reaction that I can see or feel in my body. However, they say with food allergies they can do internal damage, though I was seeing no external signs.
Then, one day I was planning dinners for the week. My husband loves crescent rolls as much as I and I was going to make crescent rolls to accompany our dinner. But the night before the dinner, I napped and dreamed. I was walking on the street where I live, I had the crescent rolls in my hand and a man appeared. He took the crescent rolls out of my hand and kicked the can of crescent rolls across the street and onto another street that was busy with traffic.
I was aghast that he kicked my crescent rolls out of my hand and onto the busy street so I could not retrieve them. I woke up knowing exactly what the Lord was telling me; He had sent an angel to take the rolls from me and out of my reach, to say “leave the wheat alone, no more eating wheat of any kind.”
God taught me a lesson by having one of His angels visit me in a dream to kick my crescent rolls to the curb. Moral of the story: watch for angels in your dreams to give you direction of what you should and/or shouldn’t be doing. Truly it is for our benefit!
